The Art of Being Retreat

In a world that often celebrates constant doing, achieving, and striving, we can easily lose touch with the simple experience of being.

The Art of Being Retreat is an invitation to pause. To discover that being is not something that simply happens—it is an art, a practice, and a way of living that can be cultivated.

Through mindful movement, functional breathing, meditation, time in nature, and meaningful connection, you'll learn to meet each moment with greater awareness, ease, and presence.

This retreat is about remembering who you are beneath the noise, slowing down enough to listen, and creating space for what truly matters. It is not about becoming someone different or fixing yourself. It is about reconnecting with the wisdom, clarity, and wholeness that already exist within you.

Unplug from the rhythms of everyday life, return to yourself and rediscover the beauty of simply being.

Monika Harczuk

I created this retreat because...

For much of my life, I believed that my value came from how much I could do....

...I grew up in a household where multitasking was admired, where moving quickly meant being efficient, and where resting during the day was often seen as weakness or laziness.

Being helpful, accommodating, and easy for others seemed to guarantee love, safety, and a sense of belonging. Without realizing it, I learned to associate slowing down with not being enough and productivity with worthiness.

Over time, adjusting myself to the values, pace, and expectations of others created a quiet disconnection from my own truth—my natural rhythm, my sense of beauty, my uniqueness...

This disconnection formed an unhealthy imprint that later showed up as a dysregulated nervous system, recurring exhaustion, self-doubt, and a tendency toward overworking and pushing beyond my limits without noticing...

The Art of Being — Restoring Balance Through Breath, Movement, Release, and Presence

What We Work On

Embodied Strength & Integration

Daily movement sessions bring together elements of yoga, classical Pilates, playful exploration, and proprioceptive work. The focus goes beyond stretching, supporting you in rebuilding stability, improving mobility, refining posture, and anchoring a sense of calm through intelligent, attentive movement.

Breath as the Core System

You explore how your breathing directly affects your mood, focus, and energy levels. Over time, breath becomes a practical tool you can use throughout your day to shift out of stress responses and return to a more regulated, balanced state.

Meditation & Clarity

Through a blend of active and still meditation practices, you'll first learn techniques to release stored physical and emotional tension, creating more space within. As this space opens, the mind naturally becomes quieter, making stillness more accessible.

We will explore simple tools that gently shift the mind from constant thinking into the experience of simply being, helping you cultivate a meditation practice that feels natural and sustainable.

The Three Cores

We explore the relationship between breath, posture, and presence, and how they support each other. When these elements begin to align, the body feels more stable, responsive, and at ease.

Nervous System Regulation

Together, we’ll explore how breath directly influences how you feel—physically, emotionally, and mentally. You’ll learn simple, accessible techniques to help regulate your body’s internal chemistry and support a shift from fight, flight, or freeze states into rest-and-digest mode.

Safe Space & Authentic Expression

Growth happens most naturally when we feel safe. Throughout the retreat, we cultivate a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you are invited to show up exactly as you are. This space allows you to explore your inner experience, express yourself freely, release what arises, and reconnect with a deeper sense of authenticity, self-awareness, and self-trust.

Joy, Sound & Play

Balance is not built through discipline alone. Movement, sound, and shared moments bring lightness into the process, allowing creativity, expression, and a more flexible nervous system to emerge naturally. When we feel safe, free, and joyful, the nervous system naturally shifts toward states of regulation, openness, and connection—where energy flows more easily and the body can rest, repair, and engage with life from a place of ease.

The Diving Reflex: Awakening Calm Through Cold Water

We will explore the diving reflex through simple cold-water face dips in the morning. This natural response helps slow the heart rate and supports a shift toward a calmer, more regulated state. It is a quick and accessible way to ground the body and mind at the start of the day.

Nature & Cultural Depth

Surrounded by the natural environment, away from constant stimulation and noise, your system has the space to slow down. Traditional Mayan practices, such as temazcal, cacao ceremonies, massage, and sound, offer a deeper connection to both yourself and the environment around you.

With movement, meditation, breathwork, community, laughter, and fun you can reset & improve your health and well-being while creating new, healthier habits.

Ready to Reset?

The retreat itself is designed as a 4-night experience, including 3 fully guided days with a carefully structured schedule. The intention is to create a supportive environment where participants can step away from daily routines, immerse themselves in new practices, and begin establishing healthier habits, perspectives, and nervous system patterns.

For those who have the time, I highly recommend adding 2-3 additional nights at BuddhaHaus after the retreat. These extra days are intentionally left unscheduled, offering space for integration, reflection, and rest at your own pace.

During this extension, there will be no organized schedule, group activities, or set meal times, allowing you complete freedom to follow your own rhythm and needs. You may choose to spend time journaling in a hammock, enjoying the beach, exploring the town, resting, or simply giving yourself space to integrate the retreat experience.

As your host, I will be available to provide recommendations and connect you with a trusted network of local practitioners and services. I can share a curated list of therapists, bodyworkers, massage therapists, sound healers, breathwork facilitators, acupuncture practitioners, and other wellness professionals, as well as my favorite local restaurants and cafés.

These additional days offer a valuable opportunity to deepen the experience, absorb what you have learned, and return home feeling more grounded, rested, and renewed.

    What makes Monika's Retreats special?

Monika brings over 20 years of teaching experience and dedicated movement practice across a range of holistic disciplines, including yoga, Pilates, meditation, and breathwork for nervous system regulation.

Her retreats go beyond traditional yoga or Pilates holidays. They offer a thoughtfully curated blend—or, as they say in India, a masala—of complementary practices designed to support your body, mind, and overall wellbeing.

This is an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life and give yourself the gift of a healthy pause.

Move your body in a way that is balanced, nourishing, and restorative.

Create space to slow down, listen, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.

Along the way, you'll discover practical tools and sustainable habits to help you build resilience, regulate stress, and feel stronger—both physically and mentally—long after the retreat ends.
